I would say a box theatre would work best for this play. It would allow for everyone in the Audience to see everything needed to understand the close emotional action that occurs in this play.
2. What are some of the design challenges posed by the play?
Since this play has a lot of stories from memory, it may be hard for the scenes to be properly acted out while pushing forward the emotional memories.
3. Choose the various chorus characters and discuss how you see them dressed. In what ways do you think the costumes you describe would help articulate their purpose in this play?
I believe that the members of the chorus would be wearing the typical church style choir outfits that have subtle designs and colors like black and red. The color and designs on the costumes can set the tone for the action that occurs in each scene.
4. Provide some ideas about the use of light in the play?
When Lil bit tells stories of the past, the light can easily be focused on her while the set is prepared for each scene in the darkness.
5. Suggest music and sound effects that could help accentuate the mood or atmosphere of the play.
Music would just have to fall the emotion of each scene. When there are sad scenes, a slower more intimate music should be played. When there is action, a faster paced and more intense music should be played.
